iZYREC MINI Voice Recorder, Strong Spy Hidden Audio Recorder, Free App Control, Compatible for iPhone Android

I've been using this gadget for 2 weeks now and I can say it works perfectly, of course I should mention I never used other brands to compare. The best part is connectivity with my mobile phone and managing the files and features through phone makes using it much easier, it has very good built quality and magnetic feature is great too. In total so far my rating is 5 star.

This voice recorder from iZYREC caught my attention for situations where audio recording with my phone is not optimal, and carrying my lager, full-featured digital audio recorder is inconvenient.

I'll admit that I don't currently have a need for "covert" recording, but I decided to test the recorder in such scenarios with the help of my better half. Clipped to the underside of a table in a quiet room, conversations at the table are recorded clearly. Placed in the door pocket of a car, the recorder captures a conversation between driver and passenger fairly well, but the quality takes a dive when music is playing at moderate to high volumes; conversations are still intelligible when the files are played at high volumes despite the dominant sound of the music. The recorder is compact enough to fit in the fifth pocket of some jeans. When placed there, it can pick up a conversation between the wearer and companion fairly well when standing still. When walking around, the dominant sound becomes fabric rubbing against the recorder's microphones -- like with the music, conversations can still be understood when the files are played at high volumes.

The app is easy to use if you don't want to connect to a computer do offload the files, but it has an annoying limitation: when recording at the highest bitrate (the "music" preset) a computer MUST be used -- the app is unable to download those files from the recorder, and it won't even show a list of recorded files.

Overall, the recorder works fairly well, but I think its main attraction is its discreet form factor. If you need to record with a device other than your phone but don't consider yourself an amateur spy, a digital recorder with a screen and on-board controls may be a simpler, more reasonable choice.

This is a great little recording device that is easy to use as is the companion app. You don't need the app to use it, but it make things a lot easier. There are 3 settings on the switch for record, standby/app, and app connect. Other than that it's just the charging port, status light and the microphones. I think background noise has kept me from experiencing the voice activation but it has worked great regardless. Obviously the less barriers there are between the source and the device the better the results, but when in a shirt pocket it works just fine. There is a clip that can be affixed to the back of the unit to expand mounting options and also includes a super short USB-C charging cable. The app connects very easily and it functions great and allows super easy recording and playback. I definitely recommend.

Out of the box, and works well. It is thin and small, with long battery life, and sensitive microphones. The controls are in the app, which is the way I would design it. Simple switch on the unit let’s you work it without the app. The recording on light is able to be turned off, if stealth recording is wanted- a symbol of quality design and construction. It appears it is selling like hotcakes and I now know why. Get you one, you will not be disappointed.
